Senior User Experience Researcher
As a human-computer interaction (HCI) researcher, I am interested in how technology plays a role during major life events. In my Ph.D. thesis, I explored one of the biggest – how technology is involved during the end of life. As part of my thesis, I built and evaluated a new website that enables online support groups for the bereaved. I am also interested in methodological issues associated with the design and evaluation of such “thanatosensitive” technologies — that is, technologies which address mortality, dying and death as part of their design concept. My more recent work has focused on other settings for major life events such as weddings.
My other research interests include mobile/ubiquitous computing, human memory and reminiscence, privacy, computer-supported collaborative work (CSCW), and HCI methodologies.
